Pretty Little Studio Blog Hop with Tombow USA!

blog hop photo

Hi and Welcome to the Tombow USA and Pretty Little Studio Blog Hop! Get ready for two days of beautiful vintage inspiration! You probably came here from Daniella Hayes‘ blog, but if you happened to stumble across my blog go to the Tombow USA Blog.

I have made two projects for this blog hop using Pretty Little Studio’s Marigold collection and an assortment of Tombow adhesives!

My first project is a photo cube that I created using a wooden block, the Marigold collection from Pretty Little Studio, Tombow xtreme adhesive, Tombow stamp runner adhesive, and Tombow Mono and Aqua liquid glue. I started out by painting my wooden photo cube white with an acrylic paint. Then I created 6 very small layouts to place on my photo cube.  I used the stamp runner, mono and aqua liquid adhesive to place my photos and embellishments on each layout.  I used the Tombow xtreme adhesive to adhere the layouts to my photo cube. I love the Tombow xtreme adhesive! It has a very strong bond. The stamp runner is my new favorite adhesive for crafting! It works great!

My second project is a set of coasters I created using ceramic tiles, the Marigold collection from Pretty Little Studio, Tombow xtreme adhesive, Tombow stamp runner adhesive, mono liquid glue and aqua liquid glue, and modpodge.  I created 4 designs. One for each coaster. I used the stamp runner, mono and aqua liquid adhesives for each of the designs.  Then I used the xtreme adhesive to adhere each of the designs to the ceramic tiles.

Next, I painted a thin layer of modpodge over each design that was glued to the ceramic tile.  It is extremely important to paint a thin layer of modpodge and let it dry each time so that your design does not end up with bubbles in it.  I added several layers of modpodge to my coaster to give it a shine.

#Best Place Ever!

Hi everyone! Carole here to share a mixed media layout using the Marigold collection. We rented a cabin for spring break and spent three days resting and relaxing in the woods! It was so peaceful and we had the opportunity to see deer, gray squirrels, and eagles. My favorite part of the trip was sitting on the porch swing each morning sipping my coffee and enjoying the peace and quiet which is something I don’t get to do very often.

I had to incorporate some mixed media in my layout this time. I love to use texture paste, stencils, and my newest favorite medium; Gelatos. The colors of the Gelatos worked well with the colors of the marigold collection. I also used the cello packaging from the Marigold collection to add some color to the texture paste. I use the Gelatos to color on the cello packaging, spray a little water onto it and mix it on the cello with my finger. Then I take the cello with the ink and water mixture and rub it on the dried texture paste on my layout! I will share more information on the specifics another time. But I have to say, it is my favorite technique at the moment!

PLS Products used in this layout include:

Bingo Coral Bell Cards

Paper-Poppy 8×8

Paper-Trumpet Vine 8×8

Paper-Dill Flower 8×8

Journaling Carnation Bookmark Tags

Sketch Overview

I love the banners in this sketch so I had to put my own spin on it! I had some journaling flags, twine, and small clothespins. I used the twine for my banner to frame the layout. Then I included the flags for the title. The clothespins helped hold the twine in place and added some dimension. I used products from the You & Me Collection and Starry Mix Confetti to add more texture and layers to my layout.

Don’t forget you have all month to play along with this sketch, and you don’t have to use Pretty Little Studio Product. Just make sure to link up to the original blog post for the March 1st Sketch Challenge by March 31st.

I love how they coordinate with the watercolors in the background.

Winter Boots

Hi there! Carole here to share a layout with you about my dog’s winter boots. Yes, you read this correctly, winter boots. We had a rough winter last year with extremely cold temperatures and lots of snow! My dog Dakota would refuse to go outside because it was too cold. So I purchased dog boots. Dakota wore them in the house to get used to them and finally realized how warm they are. He loves to wear them! So I had to create a layout about it. For my Winter Boots layout I used products from the Winter Wonderland and Holiday Cheer collection from Pretty Little Studio. I love the blue and gray colors in the Winter Wonderland Collection that also coordinates well with the Holiday Cheer Collection.

Mixed media was also included in this layout. Yes, I love to play with the messy stuff. I think it has something to do with teaching kindergarten. I used watercolors, Ranger Texture Paste, and stencils. I loved how it added some color and dimension to my layout.

PLS Products:

Winter Wonderland: Pattern Paper, Journaling Cards, Bingo Cards, Flair Buttons, Label Cutout Tags
Holiday Cheer: Bookmark cards
